In today’s video we discuss Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for the Playstation 2, Nintendo Gamecube, Xbox and Windows. This was the first Turtles home console game since 1993, so how did the franchises 2003 jump to 3D fair?

  1. Rembrandt???? Clearly that's Donatello…but you knew that already Top.

  2. I used to owned this game for the Ps2, and as a TMNT fan from the 80s and 90s, I was excited about their return to videogames. At first glance, it looked, good, but after playing for a bit, I’ve found it to be extremely repetitive, and boring. It lacked the fast paced action and enemy variety from most of the previous games. I really tried to like this game, but I've ended up selling the game, even before finishing it. The DS Game was in my opinion, a far better effort.

  3. Supporting with like 👍

  4. But Oroko Saki is shredder, what is going on with this vid.

  5. This game was too repetitive for me I didn’t get on with it at all

  6. this game is really fun, it was a good hack n slash for the time

  7. Using that wii shop music?
    Bastard…my one weakness!

  8. I struggle with this game without unlimited Ninja stars for Mikey. Lol hey did you cover TMNT 2007? The movie?

  9. Top Hat truly understands old school. 2D is a beat em up 3D is a brawler.

  10. Only 2 player on a 4 player socketed system that only needed to spare gemoetry for two more turtles. The beginning of KONAMI starting to get stupid.

  11. You don't need gimmicks in your titles Mr. TopHat!!

  12. Shedder is orku saki real name 💯

    Hamto yoshi is master splinter

  13. Wait, I thought Raphael was 'Rembrandt'. Anyway, for what it's worth, this game is A decent enough (if repeditive) brawler. Though it would've been nice if it had 4 player co-op. However, the other two games would have that, but the second game implements it awkwardly. As well as some platforming that doesn't work. The third one at least gets the 4 player co-op right, but by that point, it was too little, too late.

  14. I can't really explain why, but most games that made the jump from 2D to 3D i never bothered with again.
Mario, Zelda lost all their charm when they stopped being 2D and i never really played any of their games after the SNES,
i played and liked the 3D Turtles games only because of the IP, but none of those were as iconic or memorable as the 2D titles and the gameplay was just weak sauce.
It feels like they jumped GENRES more so than dimensional planes with the jump to 3D.

  15. How many Kojimas did Konami hire??? And then subsequently fire, of course.

  16. It amuses me that you still say "Rai-you" after all those SF deep dives years later, but said "Ree-oh" for the SNK character with nearly identical spelling.

Edit: Was gonna ignore the "numb-chucks" bit, but then you seemed to go out of your way to say "shree-you-kens" for "shuriken". Why? Just why are you doing this to my weab-ish mind?

  17. I used to play this game a lot, both on my own PS2 and on my nephew’s GameCube. I managed to finally finish it using Raph (my favorite character back then).

  18. My only gripe with this game is the fact that you save your progress only when you finish an entire act.

  19. TMNT games, a necessity for gracious living. Yeeeaaaahhhhh.

  20. Please talk bout dungeons & dragons:tower of doom & shadow over mystara arcade games, the bouncer & urban reign on ps2,mortal kombat shaolin monks, scott pilgrim vs the world game, dragon's crown, mighty morphin power rangers mega battle, revenge of the wounded dragons,& the fighting/beat em up hybrid pit fighter

  21. Great vid, but….. ?!
Is Donatello called “Rembrandt” in Europe or the UK? That’s a difference I wasn’t expecting.

I can’t wait to see your full review of Shredder’s Revenge. When it releases, please consider giving your opinion on it. I know it’ll be a new game, but it is retro styled. And I very much respect your opinion.

Thanks for the vid, gnarly dude!!!

  22. I'm kinda mad at kid me for getting over TMNT for Sonic when I played the PS2 because I never got to play the 2003 TMNT games! I would have loved them 😭

    Time for some emulation!

  23. Nostalgia blinds. This games is much better than turtles in time! I said what I said!
    😵🤣👊🏻🖕🏻

  24. This from the gamecube/ps2? Ver
    Some co-OP is okay

  25. I was unaware until today that there were TIGER TMNT handheld games… I was only aware of the KONAMI handhelds.

  26. Looking forward to the new TMNT game Shredder’s Revenge. I’ve been dreaming of a game that’s more of a sequel to Turtles in Time than the 3D games. Looking forward to Top Hat reviewing it once it’s out

  27. I just found my old copy of this game before I found this video in my recommended! unfortunately sense I thought I lost it I no longer have my GameCube to play so I need to get a new system so I can relive my nastolgia! my brothers and I used to play this game all the time as kids!

  28. Hey, Top Hat Gaming Man. How about you do a review video on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2: Battle Nexus?

  29. Think about covering one of the SUper Smash Bors.-style games, like Cartoon Network Punch-Time XL, Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl, and Multiversus.

  30. I don't care what anyone says I loved this Trilogy of 2003 TMNT Games

  31. you should do TMNT out of the shadows on 360 next

  32. This is my favorite games teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles very good video host

  33. That tmnt 2003 game so damn difficult on the gc when i was a kid…😐so many memories throwing the controller 🤦

  34. This the 2003 video game was a really good game. It was a great update and and really fun to play. I for one love playing through the storyline of whole season of the show and Konami still managed to keep it fresh with new twists and turns. These games are just as good as the DCAU Batman and Superman games that were made around that time.

Unfortunately nostalgia derailed the sequels. The 2003 game was the only one in the series that didn't play to nostalgia. Battle Nexus and Mutant Nightmare altered the controls to make them more like the 1989 arcade game and Turtles in Time respectively. It think that was really bad for Battle Nexus. The 2003 game the only one with really good character moves. I guess people just could get over the old games. A shame.

  35. I really liked this game. It started off so easy, and you easily racked up a bunch of extra lives. And then the later levels got BS hard, and sapped all those lives away. I never beat it.

  36. This game holds up surprisingly well, even better if you’re the type to pick up on subtle gameplay elements to get more out of games cause this game opens up hard when you learn that you can dash cancel out of everything which leads to infinites on most of the regular enemies and some nasty damage dealing strategies against bosses, I had way more fun with the game on my revisit than I did when I played it way back then because of that and I loved the game back then.

  37. Mr. Von Stoogle (More BAND-MAID, PLEASE!) says:

I had a green Konami TMNT handheld, never came across a tyger one.
I remember seeing early footage of the 1st PS2 game in EB Games it was much darker like the 1990 movie.

  38. Rembrandt????? who the fuck is Rembrandt????

  39. Wish they would make a game like avengers/GOTG I hate the arcade style

  40. Ive been playing this with my gf for a while now, still havent beaten it
imo it is the second best split screen game for PS2, losing only to The Incredibles Rise of the Underminer
It is quite hard but simple and looks amazing in 1080p

  41. I played it on Xbox and I found it very boring, I think that instead of adding certain details that don't matter in the end, they would have made a less repetitive gameplay like the Gameboy Advance version, that was much more entertaining.
