I think you've mistaken the meaning of "overrated" here, Zane. It was a term for something that isn't as good as people might think it is. Onic clearly deserves all the "rate" that people gave them just by the fact that they sweep through the MSC, and not to mention Echo was, at that time, a fan favorite (and M4 champion too), so I can understand why they are a fan favorite to win the M5.
On a side note, I think it's kind of like a rock-paper-scissor thing between onic, bren, and blacklist. Bren is strong against blacklist, but onic gameplay is better suited when matched up against bren. On the other side, onic is not used to a healer/support meta, which is why they are struggling quite a bit against blacklist (even in the MSC).
